Book four in USA Today Bestselling Author Piper Rayne's small town Plain Daisy Ranch series.

It was a fun Vegas getaway—until I woke up married to my ex-fiancé’s brother.

After Watson brother #1 ditched me at the altar, I stopped believing in happily-ever-afters. So I have no clue how I ended up saying “I do” to Brooks—Watson brother #2—somewhere between tequila shots and bad decisions.

Okay, that may not be true.

Sheriff Watson has been a charming thorn in my side ever since his brother left our small ranch town in his rearview mirror. He’s a little too steady, a little too sweet, and way too intuitive because he sees through my facade. But no matter how tempting he is, he’s still a Watson.

I demand an annulment. He refuses, bargaining four real dates before he signs.

Fine. I’ll sabotage each one and keep my heart safely locked away. It’s easier this way because he has no idea the secret I’m keeping.

Of course, Brooks doesn’t go down easy—he has enough faith for both of us. He tackles my fears at every turn, making me wonder what would happen if I went all in.

But trusting the wrong man once nearly ruined me—doing it again might finish the job.

My favorite book from this series

Chasing Forever by Piper Rayne is hands down my favorite book in the Plain Daisy Ranch series. The long-awaited romance between Brooks and Lottie finally pays off with a beautiful and deeply emotional story. The chemistry and tension between these two have been simmering since the very beginning, and this book delivers a super steamy connection that’s both heartfelt and genuine. I fell in love with Brooks's unwavering patience, protectiveness, and dedication. He's the perfect match for the feisty and guarded Lottie. I enjoyed her slowly learning to open up her heart and giving him and their marriage a chance. This second-chance romance is a beautiful example of the "he falls first" trope done right and a definite must-read/listen!

New favorite!

OMG I have a new favorite from Piper Rayne! This story is every bit as charming and adorable as the magnificent cover. I have loved this series, but Chasing Forever just stole my whole heart. Lottie and Brooks’ story is a magically heartfelt, slow burning romance full of tender longing, a gentle and sincere romance, and emotional chemistry. This love story squeezed my heart in all the right sways- and completely swept me off my feed.

And the tropes?! You just knew this one would have some angst- a love story out of past heartache and full of forbidden vibes. With a classic Piper Rayne hero (dreamy yet a bit alpha, but emotionally mature and open, immensely considerate and thoughtful, and epically swoony) and a heroine with some unresolved broken pain (courtesy of his brother)- this set up a narrative that had the potential for a lot of emotional range. And PR delivered. It’s still gentle, it’s still sweet, but it definitely packs an emotional punch. And it’s restorative and hopeful and dreamy through it all. Brooks is the man we ALL deserve to love us. And Lottie is the sweetest, most loving soul. I adored them.

Brooks is the kind of book boyfriend that sets the bar sky-high. Coming from a difficult, even toxic, family background, it's nothing short of remarkable that he grew into such a grounded, kind, hardworking, and fiercely loyal man. He’s charming, honest, and protective, a complete package that feels almost too perfect for someone like Lottie, who’s been through so much.

After the heartbreak of being left at the altar by Brooks’s brother, Lottie has been wary of love. Especially with anyone tied to that chapter of her life. She’s guarded, her sparkle dimmed, afraid that letting someone in will only bring more pain. But beneath the surface, her fire still burns, waiting for the right person to coax it back to life. Brooks, with his quiet devotion and unwavering patience, does just that.

Their relationship is a slow, steady dig. Brooks never pushes, only persists so sweetly. Through subtle acts of care and service over the years, he stayed close, even when it must have hurt to watch Lottie from afar. His love has always been constant, waiting for the moment when she'd finally see him not just as a friend, but as the man who’s always been hers. Watching him slowly chip away at her walls was both beautiful and heartbreaking. I just loved their falling SO MUCH.

Their banter is sharp and playful, and the way they gently challenge each other makes their connection feel deeply rooted. The accidental marriage in Vegas? A twist that adds both chaos and clarity. It forces Lottie to confront the truth about her feelings…and Brooks’s. That “it’s always been you” energy pulses through every scene, making their chemistry impossible to resist. They are just SO delicious.

I just adored Lottie. Her vulnerability and resilience are the heart of this story. Facing Brooks’s family again, navigating the judgment, and finding the courage to love again, it’s a hard and cathartic journey that feels both raw and empowering. And Brooks is always by her side. And Brooks, for his part, is the epitome of someone who fell first and never stopped falling. Now that he has this unexpected second chance, he's determined not to waste it. His transformation into the partner…and husband…Lottie deserves is moving and deeply romantic. SWOONY. SO SWOONY. And the backdrop of a tight-knit small town and a loud, messy, love-filled extended family is where Piper Rayne truly shines. They bring heart, humor, and that classic warmth to every page.

And if audiobooks are your thing, the duet narration by Stephen Dexter and Vanessa Edwin is SOOOO STINKING GOOD., Hands down my favorite PR audio ever. It’s emotionally performed, immersively engaging, and beautifully captured. The performances are top notch- and their vocal chemistry was really fantastic.

He fell a long time ago!

Chasing Forever starts off with a bang with a surprise marriage, but the biggest surprise is on the bride and groom and unfortunately what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Brooks and Lottie may have not started out their relationship in a traditional way but with a few ups and downs and some family drama they managed to found their way to love.
I love a story where he falls first and Brooks Watson fell for Lottie a long time ago. It has just taken her longer to get on board and see all the handsome sheriff has to offer and with good reason since she was left at the alter by his brother.
I also had the added bonus of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators did an amazing job that absolutely added to my enjoyment of this book!

Favorite of the series!

I received an ARC for this book. I loved Lottie and Brooks so much! They are my favorite of this series! They show real struggles that people go through. Lottie has to tackle a lot of her ghosts from the past to move forward. Brooks has loved Lottie forever, but has to be patient and help Lottie fight her ghosts. I loved their banter and just how much they fit together. They were the perfect person for each other.

Stephen Dexter was the perfect voice for Brooks. He was fun and playful and could be serious. I loved his voice!
Vanessa Edwin was the perfect voice for Lottie. She kept me entertained and she made me picture Lottie when I listened.
