One wild night turns into two pink lines.

Sleeping with the best man at my cousin’s wedding felt right at the time—he was a hot, available firefighter, and I was the tipsy maid of honor. It’s a rite of passage.

No regrets… until two pink lines flipped my world upside down.

Now I’m wildly unprepared and trying to hide my pregnancy in my small Alaskan town where privacy is a myth and gossip spreads faster than frostbite.

But wait, it gets worse.

Baby Daddy just came back to town—with a fiancée in tow.
And guess who she wants to plan their wedding?

Me.

Keeping the secret was hard enough.
Keeping my distance from the father of my baby? Impossible.

Just when I think I have it all figured out, he reveals his own secret that changes everything.

Customer Reviews:

"This series is so darn sweet. Each book makes me fall more in love with this town and family...These characters were well written and had great depth. Their background stories added so much to this already perfect story. I am really enjoying this series and this slow burn was no exception. I’m already looking forward to seeing what happens next." - Reading In the Red Room ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love Harper and Finn

Harper Bailey is the wild child of the bunch. She's always marched to the beat of her own drum and never really pursued a relationship opting for causal encounters instead. But after hooking up with the best man (Finn) at her cousin's wedding and then getting pregnant, she's got a lot to figure out.
When Finn ends up back in town unexpectedly, Harper takes this as her opportunity to tell him about the baby, she is left with another surprise - he's engaged to be married and she's the person hired to plan his wedding to someone else.
Now she has to figure out how to tell him with all these new pieces in play, and Finn has to fight his feelings for Harper. The story unfolds in some of the best ways and, watching their relationship evolve and eventually blossom was beautiful to see. Another fun Piper Rayne title and I can't wait for the next book because that teaser?! 🫣
Scott Rose and Willa Jaymes were fantastic on this title. Scott is a great underrated performer, and I always love seeing him on a book. Willa is new to me and I can't wait to listen to more of her work!

I laughed and I swooned

The Complication With The Best Man is wedding planner Harper Bailey and Vermont firefighter Finn’s entertaining read, witty and at times emotional story. It’s book five in the Lake Starlight Series and it’s a story full of surprises.
Harper meets Finn at her cousin Hudson’s wedding and she had no idea that one night was going to change her life forever…….
This book has it all, I laughed, I swooned, I giggled and I was left smiling. The characters are adorable, the banter is witty but it’s the meddling Bailey family that take this book to the next level.
Scott Rose and Willa Jaymes did a great job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were spot on with the humour, the passion and they were very easy to listen to.

More Lake Starlight Greatness! Wonderful Story & Narration🎧

Yes, to being back in Lake Starlight, one of my favorite places to visit and spend time in, with some of my favorite characters. The story swept me right in, grabbing my attention and holding it captive the entire time. This fifth book of the series is Finn and Harper’s story, meeting when they were in Palmer and Hudson’s wedding party, she the maid of honor and he the best man. That night lead to a memorable and passionate encounter, a one-night stand, since he was going back home to Vermont, where he was a firefighter. Weeks later Harper, a wedding planner in Lake Starlight, finds out she is pregnant and despite some insecurities, she knows she wants this. When she learns Finn is back in town, she goes to see him, planning on telling him, except that does not happen when she learns why he is there, he and his fiancé are her out-of-town clients who want their wedding to take place in Lake Starlight. Awkward, but Harper is in no position to turn down a job, and she has questions, and he had answers. Now she needed to find the right time to tell him about her pregnancy, though he found out before she could, and his reaction was unexpected. There is never a dull moment in this charming and wonderfully plotted small town romance. I loved how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, heartwarming humor, witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Piper Rayne, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride, escapism at its best!

🎧📚🎧 Scott Rose and Willa Jaymes were the perfect cast to bring the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting for a spot on portrayal of each. I loved how they owned their roles, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Scott nailed it as Finn, showing his personality and demeanor perfectly, and Jaymes did the same as Harper and was just as fabulous. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side/secondary characters, too. They set the right tone for the story and captured all the character’s emotions, having you feel each one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their captivating performance rivets you to the story.
